PEM Charitable Trust donate £2000 to Maggie's.

This January, our ESG & Community Lead Amy Hayden and Assistant Manager Ed Frodsham were delighted to visit Maggie’s and present them with a cheque of £2000 from the PEM Charitable Trust.

Maggie’s are a cancer support charity based on the grounds of Addenbrooke’s Hospital and provide practical and emotional support for people with cancer, their families, and friends. They welcome anyone affected by cancer, at any stage of their journey, and offer scheduled sessions as well as a drop-in service, where you don’t need an appointment, you can ‘just come in’.

In December, Maggie’s applied for a grant of £2000 to contribute towards the support they offer to men, in particular their Men’s Support Group and their Prostatectomy Group for a year. At Maggie’s Cambridge, only 29% of their visitors are men so they have identified how important these groups are to encourage more men to access their support. The PEM grant-giving committee felt this project was incredible and were really passionate about our Trust donating to Maggie’s.

Amy and Ed were lucky enough to chat not only to Hayley Webb, Centre Fundraising Manager, but also Graham Cone, one of their Cancer Support Specialists who talked us through the type of support they provide. They also met with a centre visitor who attends the Men’s Support Group.

“On behalf of us all at Maggie’s Cambridge, we’d like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for your kind and generous donation. People with cancer have never faced tougher challenges and the demand for our support is growing every day. Your support will help us provide our unique cancer support programme to people affected by cancer, whether they need information on the impact of treatment; emotional support, practical advice; or a place to go where they can meet and talk to people who are going through the same things in one of our support groups. It means so much to us all at Maggie’s Cambridge to have your support, knowing that the difference it makes is reflected in our centre every day, thank you.” Hayley Webb, Centre Fundraising Manager.

Grant applications are open until Friday 28 February and details of how to apply can be found here.
