This October PEM has been recognising Black History Month and this year’s theme of ‘Reclaiming Narratives’. Organised by members of PEM’s EDI network, we’ve been proud to offer a variety of events throughout the month:
- We enjoyed a visit from Kerief Catering, which is run by Sasa and Almarie, who specialise in South African and Jamaican cuisine, and the team sampled curried chicken, pumpkin stew and jerk chicken as well as fried dumplings.
- We were also thrilled to invite speaker Romain Muhammed (Diversify World) back for a second year. Romain gave a though-provoking talk on ‘Black Resistance’ and we shared an employee created list of recommended books, film, TV and podcasts, as well as official blackhistorymonth.org.uk resources with our team.
Black History Month is just one of our EDI network’s priority campaigns each year. In October we also raised awareness of World Menopause Day and World Mental Health Day.
