Michael joined PEM as an ACA trainee in August 2008 after gaining a first class degree in Mathematics and MSc from the University of Exeter. Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2011, he now manages a large portfolio of audit and accounts clients. Michael was appointed Partner in October 2022.
Michael is responsible for fulfilling client compliance needs for preparation of financial statements and auditing. His focus is on charities, not for profits and large groups including IFRS.
Michael enjoys complex, technical accounting assignments including large multi-currency consolidations and IFRS. In 2019, he took on his first trusteeship and became treasurer of a small, user-led mental health charity in Cambridge called Lifecraft. Michael recently completed the ICAEW’s Diploma in Charity Accounting (DChA) confirming his commitment to working in this sector.
Michael says the best part of his role is the variety of clients and the interaction he gets with the staff, directors, shareholders and trustees. He enjoys spend a lot of time visiting clients and his teams on site.
PEM is different because of it’s personal approach by everyone from our new trainees all the way up to the Partners. This underpins our three core values of authenticity, reliability and empathy.
Every Thursday evening you will find Michael leading the 18th Cambridge Scout Troop. Outside of work and volunteering, Michael has a pug Angus who likes regular short walks before chilling on the sofa in front of the TV!
