After starting her professional career in 1988 at HM Customs & Excise as a VAT inspector, Michele left in 2016 to join a local accountancy practice and later became their VAT Director. Kept busy with the day-to-day requirements her talents weren’t being fully utilised and she wanted to be part of a bigger team. After joining the VAT Practitioners Group, where she met Robert Plumbly PEM’s VAT Director, she joined our VAT team in 2021.
Michele is the first point of contact for our Virtual Finance Office whenever they have VAT related query and has lots of experience with medical and pharmaceutical industries as well as construction companies, blue economy organisations and providers of specialist services with varying turnovers.
I like finding solutions to problems. I like the challenge of specialist VAT schemes and trying to find an answer that is fair and reasonable for business. This is one of the reasons I like partial exemption and construction VAT. I have known VAT Officers try to avoid some of these areas like the plague but I find them fun.
Recently Michele has re-started horse riding after a 25 year hiatus and loves to play tennis at her local club in Letchworth. She is also know to ‘tread the board’ occasionally at a local theatre and loves music and festivals – if you have a spare Glastonbury ticket Michele would love to hear from you!
